Spring Green Salute

Spring is here.. or at least we are feeling it here in sunny California. The lilies and daffodils are blooming and days are getting longer. The sun is setting further north across the bay and St. Patrick's Day is around the corner. All the many reasons to have a sale. To get in the spring cleaning mode, we've slashed prices on selected green socks, even some of the BRAND NEW STYLES we just received this week.

Featuring the Sock of the Week - Arawn Striped Over The Knee

Arawn, (AHR-aun) pronounced like Aaron, comes from Celtic or Welsh mythology. He is the lord of Annwfn, the "other world" or as we may better understand it, the land of the faeries. Arawn was also the owner of a magical cauldron with rejuvenating powers. King Arthur is said to have led a quest into Annwn, Arawn's Kingdom, to steal this precious artifact. Arawn is also the guardian of the magical animals within his kingdom. While he may not be Irish we felt his connection to the magical isles of Britain was a suiting fit to honor our green theme of the week.

What do you call a sock store in Sausalito? Why Soxalito, what else.

Our friend Aness, who has been a buisness owner in Sausalito, California for many years is opening up a new shop dedicated to socking it to the people. Soxalito opens this weekend and is full of fun styles to treat your feet. RocknSocks is super excited to be a part of it. Even though we are based in Marin county, only a select few stores carry our product and now those of you north of the Golden Gate Bridge who want to sock up can look no further than this sweet little shop on 771 Bridgeway right in the heart of Sausalito.

Soxalito is carrying most of the RocknSocks collection, so you will have many styles to choose from when you visit.

Sock of the Week - Sophia

Sophia as translated from the Greek language means wisdom. Honored as a Goddess of wisdom within the Neopagan and New Age movements, as well as within feminist-inspired Goddess spirituality Sophia actually transcends many ancient spiritual and religious practices. In Orthodox and Roman Catholic Christianity Sophia, or rather Hagia Sophia, Holy Wisdom is an expression of understanding of the Holy Spirit, but in no way in terms of pagan goddess worship. For the studied ancient Greeks the word Philosophy is formed from the two words philo-sophia, the love of wisdom. For us the concept of wisdom is by no means exclusive to a singular practice. Wisdom comes from learning all that comes in our consciousness and processing it to form sound decisions and practices.

We believe that sustainable business is wisdom in action. Making choices to use recycled materials in our product and to produce our socks domestically comes from our beliefs that we can change the world bit by bit by supporting our economy and protecting our natural resources. We gave the name of Sophia to this over the knee sock, to honor the inherent wisdom in all of us. As customers we honor your wisdom in understanding and acknowledging our business practices. We are grateful for your excitement and positive energy you share with us in supporting our vision of business in 21st Century America.

The colors in the Sophia Striped Over the Knee Sock come from an ancient piece of art by Saint Hildegard of Bingen. Soft pinks and yellows are grounded with a earthen taupe. This piece of art can be seen at the following link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Meister_des_Hildegardis-Codex_002.jpg

Now that we have shared our story of Sophia with you. You can buy the sock inspired by her at a $5 discount. That's right for the next 8 days you have own a pair of Sophia Striped Over The Knee Socks for just $11.
